SEND

At Banstead Community Junior School, we are committed to ‘developing lifelong learners’ and supporting every child to progress and flourish, regardless of a pupil’s individual needs. We recognise that pupils learn differently and that learning journeys are unique to each child. At Banstead Community Junior School, we champion inclusive teaching which will enable each learner to make the best possible progress in school and ensure they feel that they are a valued member of the wider school community.

Class teachers are responsible for the learning of all the children in their class and the delivery of 'Quality First Teaching'. This includes adaptations, modelling, support and personalisation for all children as they need it.

We recognise that children sometimes require additional support to meet their needs or improve their outcomes. Provision for pupils is continually reviewed throughout the year and support is implemented based on a variety of factors including attainment, progress, assessments and importantly, through discussions with each pupil and their family.

Our ambition for all the children leaving us in Year 6 is that they are as confident and independent as possible with an established mindset of growth, ready to continue their journey as a ‘lifelong learner’.

Our whole school SEND provision is overseen and co-ordinated by our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo) Nicki Woodward - nwoodward@bcjs.org.uk.
